After careful consideration, the Malice Domestic board has reached the decision to cancel this year’s Malice. We had hoped to be able to postpone this year’s event, but given the uncertainty we face, the most prudent decision at this time is to cancel this year’s event and focus our efforts on a spectacular Malice Domestic 33, which will be April 29-May 2, 2021.
If you are registered for Malice Domestic, you have three choices:
1. Do nothing, and your registration will automatically roll forward to next year. If you choose this option, you will be eligible to vote in this year’s Agatha Awards.
2. Cancel your registration and donate your registration fee to Malice Domestic. Malice is a 501(c)(3) and your donation is tax deductible. If you choose this option, you will be eligible to vote in this year’s Agatha Awards.
3. Cancel your registration and receive a refund. Any refund requested between now and April 15, 2020 will have the $50 cancelation fee waived. (Follow Link Above for the Form)
If you had a hotel reservation at the Marriott Bethesda North at the Malice group rate, it will be automatically cancelled (you will receive an email confirmation of cancellation).
If you have a reservation at the Marriott at a different rate or at another hotel, you need to contact them to cancel your reservation.
We will let you know as soon as hotel reservations for 2021 open.
Despite our not having an in-person event this year, the Agatha Awards will go on! Voting will still happen on the dates it would have during the event and will be electronic; you will receive additional information about this as we get closer to the date.
Winners will be announced during a special live streamed event. This is also where we will announce the Malice 33 honorees and details of the 2021 anthology.
We also will include the Malice 32 Agatha Award winners at the Agatha Awards Banquet at Malice 33.
If you have additional questions (about these topic or others including sponsorships, advertising, the anthology, dealers, or the new authors breakfast), please click here for our Q&A. If you still have questions, please contact us.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Malice Domestic.
